To help you decide if this is for you, it is worth us having a chat by phone or zoom so I can answer any questions you may have and just to see if it feels like a good fit for you. This part is not counselling, costs nothing and does not in any way infer any obligation on you.
If you decide you would like to proceed, we'll work out a time that works for us both. To set this initial chat up, you can email me on ian@isrcounselling.co.uk or call 07359 870951. If you call and I am unable to pick up, please leave a message, including a good time, or any times to avoid calling back. If you would rather text than talk initially, that is absolutely fine also.
First Session
In our first session, I will run over our counselling contract with you. This is designed to lay out the parameters of how we will work together. Contracting is a requirement of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy's ethical framework and is designed to inform and protect clients within the work. You can download a copy of the contract on this page and feel free to read through and bring a signed copy with you or we can talk it through in the session. There is a slightly different version for on-line work to incorporate that aspect.
You can also download a copy of my Privacy Policy from this page and a contact form. We can deal with the contact form in our first session or you are welcome to fill it in and bring with you, which will save us a few minutes.
I will also ask you to work on an assessment with me. This is part exploration of the type and severity of the issues you are dealing with and part risk assessment.
